Specific Hawaii Fishing Licensing Information. You can purchase your license by visiting your local sporting goods or as easy as getting on the internet and clicking on a few buttons.
Note that the Freshwater Game Fishing License (FWGFL) is required if fishing:
- For largemouth black bass, smallmouth black bass, blue-gill sunfish, channel catfish, tucunare, and oscar in streams and other State waters
- For rainbow trout in the Kokee Public Fishing Area, Kauai (seasonal openings)
- In the Wahiawa Public Fishing Area, Oahu (entry permit also required)
- In the Nuuanu Reservoir No. 4, Oahu (seasonal openings, entry permit also required)
Obtain a current copy of the Hawaii Fishing Regulations before doing any freshwater or saltwater fishing in the state. Regulation booklets are available from the Division of Aquatic Resources offices and most fishing supply stores.
