This lake is a private lake and is not open to the public. If you do not own property or hand an official guest pass you will be asked to leave and vehicles will be towed. There is great fishing near by in the South Branch of the Potomac. Please enjoy the river instead of our private lake.

Rock Bass, 8-10 inch rubber worms (power bait), 1/2 oz lead head jig head with chartreuse mister twister grubs, Eastern shore- north half of lake, 100-200 yds offshore.
Largest Fish:
Rock Bass, 10 Inches, lbs.
Comments:
Mid-day fishing for rock bass, with a light chop on the water, can be pretty fun. Wind-drift worms, jigs and even spinner baits over the weed beds 15-25 feet of water. Not the most exciting techniques but there are not many other options this time of year. Rock bass were the only fish caught- LMB and SMB must be out deeper right now.

Comment: July 2010 trip over a 6 days worth of fishing the pond, 22 trout were caught. 10 were kept and 12 more catch and release. All trout ranged from 10-13" and the majority were natural and not planter fish. Keep an eye out for the Ospreys which also hunt the pond. Watching them dive bomb the pond with a trout in its talons is really a cool sight at 7:00am.

This lake is the third biggest lake in maine and was flooded in the fifties so it is larger than it was sixty years ago. This lake is about fifty feet deep at the deepest and has salmon as a native game fish but has mostly been taken over by perch and pickerel. A couple of years ago I caught about twenty pickerel one was almost three feet long and the rest about two footers. last year I caught one pickerel here and at least one or two hundred yellow perch. One day I lost count at twenty perch. one good spot is behind the Stratton Plasa hotel or near the islands close to the black bridge. if you go near where the town was flooded in 1950 you can still catch some salmon. So perch and pickerel didnt take over entirely. the salmon will most likely be deep where the pickerel dont often go because of the temperature. Have a great time with fishing and come up and fish in are wonderful lake.

as i was fishing on the L shaped dock/ boat ramp in front of my grandmothers house, i set my rod down to take a break and catch some blue- gill with another rod... big mistake. i saw my bobber start to take off but i thought it was only the small blue-gill, but as i soon found out it wasnt. no blue-gill snatches your pole into the water! after retrieving my pole from the water i started to reel the fish in, then i saw it jump out of the water, my heart began to race, the fish was huge! i finally reeled in the fish after about 5 minutes. when i got an official weight on the fish it weighed 6.65 lbs. my personal best at that lake. now believe it or not i used to live at that lake with my parents. if any one is readng this and went there during the 90s, you might remember a little boy that was always fishing at that L shaped dock. yeah that was me. it took me years to catch a fish that big there, but trust me there are way bigger fish in that lake, i give you my word.

Used a small silver dodger with a pink twinkle skirt hoochie about 24 inches back. Baited the hooks with yellow corn. Large rainbows, and even bigger browns. We trolled the west shorline starting in north region working ourselves southward, The rainbows had a tendancy to be in 20-25 feet of water good luck with needle fish, and kastmasters, trolling with downriggers and led line worked best. The mean browns were deeper more like 40-55 feet of water, more pickier than the bows, try using different color schemes, tiger pattern and orange worked well.

Fished in the rain most of the day. We started out at Clapboard Hollow and fished our way down to the dam. This took 10hrs. Caught 37 fish--35 bass two bluegill--all on plugs. Caught a few on topwater early, these were small. Most of the keepers (17) total, came off of a hula grub (green pumpkin/purple and copper flake) and a three inch green pumpkin tube/black flake. Caught two bass off of a white (home-made spinnerbait--thanks dad). One was ten inches and the other was eighteen inches--2lb10oz--our biggest fish of the day came on the last cast. Both spinnerbait fish came off of wood. The last largemouth WRECKED the spinnerbait, It was white in color/silver blades. Most of the fish were on the main lake. Seen alot of bait in the creeks but the fish were not back in there as of 8-26-08. Going tomorrow(9-5-2008). Good luck and God Bless.

This is a great lake to come fish if you do not have a boat and want to catch bass and panfish. Use swim baits that look like baitfish in the area. Flip it out right above the big bass. As soon as it hits the water they will go crazy. Reel it back down towards the weeds and you can catch some monsters!

Crappie Secret

Comments:
I tried the Crappie Secret this weekend for the first time on Pymatuning Lake which is located in Northwestern Pennsylvania. Everything went exactly as your articles said it would. I started fishing around 11:00 P.M. and put it in the water. Within 5 minutes, small shad showed up and congregated around. Within an hour, there were hundreds of mixed size shad making counterclockwise rotations around the spot. The schooling shad kept getting thicker and thicker. I started fishing immediately after I turned it on and fishing was slow for the first ten minutes but as the shad schools kept getting thicker, the crappie moved in and I kept catching fish as fast as I could get a minnow on my hook. I was using a crappie rig with two hooks and I caught quite a few double headers. My fishing trip lasted for about three hours and I caught the biggest stringer of crappie that I ever caught. I cant wait until my next outing! George Dowling. Gibsonia, PA.

For the most part, we would have great luck pulling in trout from the dam. My Grandmother sure loved this place.
I remember one time when my brothers and father and I rented a cabin to stay the night just outside the lake. We didnt catch anything, so as a boy I used a stick with a line attached to catch dozens of crawdad. We boiled them up and had a feast. Great memories!
