Beer Marketing Works on Fish!

I came across an interesting story the other day about a fisherman who uses unusual bait to catch fish.

Norm Price from Sherbrook Canada was fishing with his buddies and indulging in a few cold ones when he was struck by inspiration.  Noticing a beer bottle cap lying next to his fishing hook, he bent the cap in half, placed some steel rattlers inside for weight, and secured it above the hook.  To his great surprise, he caught a fish – then another, and another.  Placing bait scents in the caps only made them more successful.  Turns out fish have the same affinity to drinking and fishing as many fishermen.  Who’d have thunk it?  Well, Norm Price did, and he’s turned his discovery into a business!

From their website – bottlecaplure.com:

“Manufactured from recycled bottle caps, steel rattlers and assembled with The World’s Finest Hooks, the Bottle Cap Lures catch everything from bass, blue gill, catfish, crappie, muskie, perch, pike and walleye, to char, cod fish, salmon, sea bass, trout, whitefish… north to south and west to east, the list goes on. Our testimonials keep rolling in with new species caught using the Bottle Cap Lures.”

His patented and trademarked beercap lures are now available in stores for around $5 and can be customized with a company logo, or other personal message on their website: bottlecaplure.com.

I think this is a great idea, and combines (for many) two passions, and is good for the environment to boot!

It’s almost the weekend… care to go recycling anyone?
